Heat ghee in a pressure cooker. Add green cardamom and allow it to release its aroma. Add the mutton pieces and sauté for 4–5 minutes until lightly browned.
Add the chopped tomatoes, salt and MSG. Mix well and cook until the tomatoes soften.
Pour in enough water to cover the mutton well. Close the lid and pressure cook for 5–6 whistles, until the mutton is tender and the broth is flavourful.
Once the pressure releases, open the cooker and check the consistency. Sprinkle with black pepper powder and simmer for 2 minutes. Serve hot.
